Humanoid robots to begin work at Haneda Airport; JAL and GMO launch a three-year pilot to handle ground operations

JAL, JAL Ground Service, and GMO AI & Robotics will launch a pilot at Haneda Airport in May.

For about three years, humanoid robots will be tested on ground handling tasks such as aircraft guidance and baggage/cargo loading and unloading.

This is Japan’s first trial of humanoid robots in airport ground operations.

The project aims to reduce the physical burden on workers and help address labor shortages.
