Virtual OS Museum is a new downloadable archive curated by Andrew Warkentin that lets users boot and explore historic operating systems in a Linux VM.

The project bundles more than 1,700 installs across 250+ platforms and 570 operating systems, from early mainframes to Windows, classic Mac OS, PalmOS, Newton OS, and early Android.

It can be run in emulators like QEMU, VirtualBox, or UTM, with both a full download and a lighter version available.

The archive makes rare and hard-to-run systems more accessible to enthusiasts, researchers, and students while preserving computing history in a usable form.
