A data center used 29 million gallons of water without a bill, while residents complained about low water pressure

A Fayette County investigation found a QTS data center in Fayetteville used more than 29 million gallons of water without proper billing.

The lapse happened when two major water connections were not monitored during a metering system transition.

The county later issued a retroactive bill, which was paid.

Residents say the episode added to concerns about low water pressure, drought, and the impact of rapid data center growth.
