Google sets a 2029 deadline for full post-quantum cryptography readiness; most government and defense agencies target 2030–2033.

Google published a blog post detailing its migration plan, including steps to make Android quantum-resistant and to add support for ML-DSA.

Google scientists led by Craig Gidney reported quantum threats: a 2,048-bit RSA key could be broken in under a week by a quantum computer with one million noisy qubits.

In 2019 the believed qubit threshold to break RSA was about 20 million qubits; Google did not specify reasons for its shorter 2029 deadline.
