The US Army Is Building Its Own Chatbot for Combat

The US Army is developing AI models trained on real mission data to deploy a chatbot for soldiers.

The prototype system, Victor, combines a Reddit-like forum with a chatbot interface.

The chatbot, VictorBot, generates answers and cites sources drawn from posts and comments to reduce errors.

Victor is intended to surface useful information for configuring electromagnetic warfare systems and has been fed more than 500 data repositories.

The project is being developed within the Combined Arms Command under Lt. Col. Jon Nielsen; a third-party vendor is running and fine-tuning the models but no contract has been announced.
