New omnidirectional propulsion lets drones move freely in any direction midair

French startup Aerix Systems developed an omnidirectional propulsion system that vectorizes thrust independently of drone orientation.

The AERIX T-16 unit produces up to 3.2 kg of thrust and supports 3.5 G acceleration, and the AXS-µ1 platform can hit 124 mph and withstand 62 mph winds.

Aerix’s interceptor drones use onboard sensing and guidance for hard-kill interceptions and received €5 million in funding to move toward pre-series production.
