See real objects and 3D images together through glass... NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories unveils 'transparent hologram'

NHK Research Laboratories unveiled a transparent hologram based on a surface-relief hologram.

The display lets viewers see real objects behind a glass substrate and 3D imagery at the same time.

The team highlighted three key technologies: microfabrication, improved transparency, and separated RGB light sources.

NHK aims to enable full-color video display around 2030, with potential uses in exhibitions, signage, vehicles, and industrial displays.
