China’s 938-foot nuclear-powered carrier could rival US Navy supercarriers by 2032

Satellite imagery shows rapid progress on China’s Type 004 carrier at Dalian, with a 938-foot hull and signs of reactor spaces and electromagnetic catapults.

Analysts say it could be China’s first nuclear-powered supercarrier, with a possible launch around 2032.

If completed, the ship would boost China’s carrier range, sortie rate, and blue-water strike power well beyond the current Fujian.

That would narrow the gap with the U.S. Navy and increase pressure on Pacific and Indian Ocean operations.
