Class-action price-fixing lawsuit targets hard drive component makers as costs skyrocket — 13-year scheme allegedly drove up prices for major HDD brands

A U.S. class-action suit in California accuses hard drive suspension assembly makers linked to TDK and NHK Spring of colluding on prices from 2003 to 2016.

The complaint says the alleged scheme raised HDD manufacturing costs, and those higher costs were passed on to buyers of hard drives and computers.

If successful, the case could lead to compensation for purchasers and further expose anticompetitive pricing in a key HDD component.
