Xiaomi Appoints First-Ever Auto CTO Amid Production Push

Xiaomi named Hu Zhengnan as CTO of its auto division and Song Gang as vice president and chief of staff, adding senior EV and manufacturing expertise.

The hires are aimed at scaling SU7 production and improving execution toward Xiaomi’s 2026 vehicle delivery target.

The company also highlighted stronger safety governance, a larger auto R&D team, and ongoing factory expansion in Beijing.

The moves suggest Xiaomi is shifting from EV launch mode to industrial-scale production and tighter quality control.
