EPA Now Values Human Lives at $0

The EPA removed the value of a statistical life from its cost-benefit calculations for industrial pollution.

The prior VSL was about $11.7 million per person, according to Fortune.

Removing the VSL weakens economic support for stricter ozone and fine particulate (PM2.5) standards.

The change could reverse gains from the Clean Air Act, which a researcher estimated added 1.4 years to US life expectancy.
