Google shuts down Project Mariner

Google has shut down Project Mariner, the experimental web-tasking feature launched in 2024.

Its underlying technology is being folded into Gemini Agent, AI Mode, and other Google AI products.

The move comes as Google gears up for I/O and keeps building similar multi-step browsing tools in Chrome.

It signals a broader push to consolidate agentic web automation inside Google’s core products.
