At Least 18% of Jobs Face Major AI Risk, OpenAI Economist Predicts

OpenAI’s chief economist analyzed 900+ occupations and found about 18% face high near-term automation risk.

Another 25% of jobs are likely to be reorganized around AI, while 46% may see only limited immediate change.

Roughly 12% of occupations could benefit and grow as AI increases demand for certain services.

The report says AI’s job impact depends on demand elasticity, human judgment, accountability, and how fast firms adopt the technology.
