Google unveils AI agent “Gemini Spark,” which runs 24/7 in the background using virtual machines on Google Cloud

Google unveiled Gemini Spark at I/O 2026, a personal AI agent platform powered by Gemini 3.5 Flash.

Spark runs on Google Cloud VMs and can execute approved tasks in the background 24/7.

It connects with Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and third-party services through MCP.

Google added confirmation safeguards for important actions and is rolling out access to select Google AI Ultra users.
