Google takes a big swing at AI health with the Fitbit Air

Google launched Fitbit Air, a $99 screenless wearable with modular straps, seven-day battery life, and sensors for heart rate, sleep, oxygen, and temperature.

At the same time, Fitbit’s app and Health Connect are being folded into the new Google Health app, while Fitbit Premium is rebranded as Google Health Premium.

Google also began rolling out its AI-powered Health Coach more broadly, signaling a bigger push to unify its health products.

The move positions Fitbit less as a standalone device brand and more as part of Google’s broader AI-driven health platform.
