DeepL is laying off a quarter of its workforce

DeepL will cut 250 jobs, or about a quarter of its workforce, as it restructures under CEO Jarek Kutylowski.

The company says it is moving to an AI-first model and will focus more on real-time speech translation and workflow automation.

DeepL also plans to expand beyond core translation into broader enterprise AI tools such as an AI agent, Customization Hub, and voice API.

The layoffs highlight how AI is changing both staffing decisions and product roadmaps across tech companies.
