Instagram Expands Its PG-13-Inspired Content Guidelines for Teen Accounts to Europe

Meta says it will expand its PG-13-inspired teen account standard to more countries, especially in Europe.

The standard uses the Motion Picture Association's PG-13 rating as a reference.

Instagram teen accounts launched in the US in 2024 to move users younger than 16 into teen accounts.

Teen accounts are private by default and use Instagram's most restricted content settings.

Meta first rolled out the changes in the US, the UK, Australia, and Canada in October 2025, then later reached an agreement with the Motion Picture Association.
