OpenAI’s Obsession With Data Centers Is Running Into Trouble

OpenAI scaled back its ambitious AI infrastructure spending from $1.4 trillion to about $600 billion for the decade.

The company still buys cloud capacity from Oracle, Microsoft, and Amazon and does not own data centers.

Nvidia described a $100 billion deployment plan and said a recent $30 billion investment might be its last before an OpenAI IPO.

Experts say building large data centers can take three to ten years, while OpenAI says its first center will be ready by year-end.
