Serbia Adds 61 MW of Solar in First Half, Cumulative Capacity Nears 380 MW

Serbia’s cumulative solar capacity reached 379.8 MW at the end of June, up 19.3% from the end of last year.

Growth was driven mainly by household and business prosumers and distribution-grid solar projects, with no large plants directly connected to the transmission grid yet.

The government has pushed the review date for new grid connections to 2029, raising the risk of further delays for big projects.

Limited transmission capacity and slow permitting could constrain Serbia’s large-scale renewable investment and energy transition pace.
