YouTube is cracking down on undisclosed AI videos, but won't penalize creators for making them

YouTube is updating its AI disclosure policy with more prominent labels for photorealistic videos that are meaningfully altered or generated by AI.

For long-form uploads, the AI label will appear above the description; on Shorts, it will show as an overlay.

YouTube will also use internal signals to label undisclosed AI content and let creators appeal mistaken flags.

The company says AI labels will not affect recommendations or monetization.
