Motorola breaks silence on shady Amazon affiliate redirects

Motorola said it has fixed an unintended issue that sent some users opening Amazon Shopping through a web tracking link before the app launched.

The behavior came from Motorola’s app search and suggestion setup with Device Native, not from a deliberate attempt to intercept launches.

Motorola told 9to5Google that installed apps now open directly as intended.

The incident raised questions about user trust, privacy, and possible affiliate or tracking implications.
