Instants is the Instagram-powered Snapchat clone no one asked for

Instagram has launched Instants, a standalone app spun out from its Shots feature for sharing disappearing photos.

Instants uses Instagram logins, is available on Android and iOS, and lets users view or share posts on Instagram too.

The move pushes Instagram deeper into ephemeral photo sharing and sets up a more direct challenge to Snapchat.

It also keeps users within Instagram’s ecosystem while offering a separate app experience.
