China Built the World’s Largest Outdoor Escalator, and It’s a Modern Marvel That Looks Like It Never Stops Rising Into the Sky

China opened a continuous outdoor escalator system called the ‘Goddess’ in Wushan, Chongqing.

The system spans over half a mile and is made of about two dozen linked escalators and lifts, with Schindler supplying the stairways.

Riders take about 21 minutes to travel end to end; roughly 9,000 people use it daily and 450,000 used it during the Spring Festival.
