FSR 4 upscaling is finally coming to older Radeon GPUs, and the image quality gains are real

AMD will expand FSR 4.1 support to older Radeon GPUs, starting with RX 7000 cards in summer 2026 and RX 6000 cards in early 2027.

Unlike RX 9000 GPUs, the older cards will use INT8 processing instead of FP8, which should reduce performance but still deliver similar image quality.

Early modder tests suggest the visual results remain close to the newer version, even if the speed gains are smaller.

The rollout gives more Radeon owners access to AMD’s latest AI upscaler without needing to buy an RX 9000 upgrade.
