Days with a maximum temperature of 40°C or higher to be called "extremely hot days," Japan Meteorological Agency decides

Japan’s Meteorological Agency has officially decided to call days with temperatures of 40°C or higher “Kokushobi” (severe heat days).

The term matches the one already used by the Japan Meteorological Association, bringing the naming into alignment.

The standardized wording should make heat warnings clearer and help convey the danger of extreme high temperatures more effectively.
