Riot admits it "made mistakes" with League of Legends' ranked season, imposes hard reset at apex levels

Riot Games admitted problems with its 2026 League of Legends ranked setup.

In patch 26.09, apex-tier players in affected regions will be hard reset to Master 0 LP.

Riot says it will also adjust LP gains and cutoff points in future updates to reduce grind and make the ladder more competitive.

The change impacts Master, Grandmaster, and Challenger progression and reflects ongoing concerns about ranked integrity and matchmaking volatility.
