Apple and Samsung named the least repairable phone brands in new report

The PIRG Education Fund's Failing the Fix 2026 study used EU EPREL criteria to assess 105 smartphone models.

Apple scored D- and Samsung D, leaving them the least repairable brands, while Motorola scored B+.

Google scored C- and ranked in the middle; laptop repair scores were generally higher with Asus topping the laptop list.

The report links unrepairable devices to increased e-waste and notes EU rules since June 20, 2025 require repair labels and parts access.
