China’s automotive standards body is moving to revise exterior lighting rules, with tighter scrutiny on the use of intelligent-driving “blue lights.”

Officials warn the lights may be overused and could pose safety risks, raising concerns about compliance with current vehicle lighting regulations.

GB 4785 is being updated, and design approval reviews for innovative lamps are expected to become stricter.

Industry reports also suggest that newly certified models may be barred from using the light from July 27, 2026.
