Go maintainer joins collective klaxon about encryption-breaking quantum computers — developer urges immediate switch to post-quantum methods to prevent worldwide disaster

Go cryptography maintainer Filippo Valsorda warns quantum computers may break today’s encryption far sooner than many expect.

He argues software and infrastructure should stop deploying non-post-quantum schemes and move directly to post-quantum key exchange.

Valsorda says long transition windows and hybrid stopgaps are risky, since widely used systems may be affected at once.

Potentially exposed areas include websites, SSH, certificates, code signing, DNS, email, IoT devices, TEEs, and encrypted files.
