7 States’ Water Systems Hit by Cyberattacks Likely Tied to Iran

The FBI and CISA say cyberattacks on water and wastewater systems have spread beyond Minnesota to at least seven states.

A leaked memo and earlier CISA guidance suggest the campaign is likely tied to Iranian-affiliated hackers.

Some systems had digital controls disabled, and in some places boil-water notices were issued.

The attacks target critical water infrastructure and could disrupt service, contaminate supplies, and expose wider utility weaknesses.
