Kim Jong-cheol, Chair of the Ministry of Science and ICT and Broadcasting and Communications Commission: "Private broadcasters are a pillar of democracy… expanding production support"

Chair Kim Jong-cheol of the Broadcasting and Media Communications Commission said private broadcasters are a key foundation of democracy and local communities.

At the Korea Private Broadcasting Day event in Ulsan, he met with representatives from SBS, KNN, TBC, TBJ and other stations to discuss regional broadcasting policy.

Kim said the commission will rationally revise remaining regulations and expand support for content production.

The move points to possible policy easing and stronger support for local broadcasters' competitiveness and production capacity.
