[AI Highway] Korea teams up with Nvidia and AMD... diversifying the AI infrastructure ecosystem

South Korea is expanding AI computing cooperation with AMD after NVIDIA, building an open infrastructure ecosystem.

The plan links AMD CPUs and GPUs with domestic NPUs, alongside data centers, cloud, and orchestration software.

Private players such as Naver, Upstage, Samsung SDS, LG CNS, and KT Cloud are also widening GPU/NPU choice-based services.

AI competition is shifting from securing GPUs alone to competing on integrated compute, data centers, power, cooling, cloud, and operations.

The move could broaden participation for local AI chipmakers and strengthen Korea’s AI self-reliance and global competitiveness.
