Niantic Spatial launched an updated Scaniverse app and VPS 2.0 geospatial platform.

Scaniverse lets users scan spaces on standard phones, upload the data, and combine shared scans into detailed 3D models.

VPS 2.0 enables global visual positioning without a prior scan and can deliver near-centimeter accuracy in mapped areas.

The company also opened NDSK documentation to developers, expanding access to its mapping stack.

The tools aim to give AI, robots, and enterprise systems a practical map of the physical world for better localization where GPS is weak.
