Apple reportedly plans a satellite connectivity upgrade for iPhone 18 Pro models tied to its in-house C2 modem.

The modem may support 5G NR-NTN, a standard for non-terrestrial networks, which could improve satellite performance.

If true, iPhones could automatically switch to satellite when cellular signal is weak, reducing manual aiming and setup.

That would make emergency and low-signal off-grid communication easier across more carriers and services.
