Researchers in Austria demonstrated FROST, a browser-based side-channel attack that measures SSD timing through OPFS using JavaScript.

By training a neural network on latency traces, the system can infer user activity, visited sites, and running apps across different browsers.

The findings suggest web pages may fingerprint users from SSD timing alone, creating a new privacy risk beyond cookies and traditional trackers.
