Pentagon eyes 3D-printed military boats made from volcanic fiber — non-conductive hulls add stealth capabilities while replacing a 6,545-mile supply chain, could scale to 25,000 vessels a year at forward bases

Voltage Vessels has submitted a 6-meter 3D-printed RHIB to the Pentagon for military evaluation.

The boat is printed with a CEAD large-format system using Eclipse X9, a recycled PETG and chopped basalt-fiber material.

The company says the material is stronger than current maritime HDPro and electrically non-conductive, which could help reduce radar visibility and system interference.

The concept aims to move boat production from long supply chains to forward bases, with capacity claims of up to 25,000 hulls per year.
