Next-gen Eurofighter jet boasts 1,550 mph top speed and advanced AESA radar

Airbus has unveiled Spain’s first HALCON I Eurofighter at its Getafe plant, and the jet is now moving into engine testing and first-flight preparation.

It is the first of 20 aircraft Spain ordered in 2022 and the country’s first Tranche 4 Eurofighter.

The upgraded jet adds an AESA E-Scan radar, Meteor air-to-air missiles, and Brimstone III strike capability.

Spain plans to use the new Eurofighters to replace aging F-18s at Gando Air Base in the Canary Islands.

Madrid has also ordered 25 more Eurofighters under HALCON II, expanding its long-term fleet modernization.
