Anthropic unveils “Opus 4.8” with improved “honesty”; “mythos-class” to arrive within weeks

Anthropic launched Claude Opus 4.8, its new flagship model for coding, agentic tasks, reasoning, and knowledge work.

The company says it is more honest about uncertainty, less likely to make unsupported claims, and better at catching bugs in its own code.

Claude Code now supports dynamic workflows for larger multi-agent and longer-running tasks, with new effort controls across Claude and Cowork.

Anthropic says Mythos-class capabilities will roll out to all customers within weeks, while pricing for Opus stays unchanged.
