ASRock's new HUDIMM standard wants to make DDR5 affordable again by cutting it in half

ASRock has introduced HUDIMM, a new patent-pending DDR5 module co-developed with Intel and TeamGroup.

HUDIMM uses a single 32-bit sub-channel instead of DDR5’s usual dual-sub-channel design, cutting bandwidth and chip count.

The tradeoff is lower performance, but also a cheaper memory option as DRAM prices rise.

Intel says HUDIMM will be supported on 600-, 700-, and 800-series motherboards, and ASRock is also planning HSODIMM for smaller systems.
