The US Army has developed synthetic skin, bone, and brain models to test how electromagnetic radiation penetrates and heats tissue.

These nonliving tissue phantoms let researchers measure absorption and biological effects without using live tissue.

The findings can help design better protective gear, safer systems, and wearable exposure monitors for soldiers and civilians.
