Google I/O 2026: 3 new AI features are coming to Google Shopping

At Google I/O, Google introduced a Universal Cart to combine items from multiple retailers and Google products into one checkout flow.

It also unveiled a Universal Commerce Protocol so AI agents can buy items and make bookings on users’ behalf.

A new Agent Payments Protocol 2 adds spending limits and preserves transaction records for disputes.

Together, the updates push Google deeper into AI-powered shopping while keeping more user control and guardrails.
