$820 million boost expands U.S. drone industrial base, cuts foreign reliance

Performance Drone Works has received a conditional loan commitment of up to $820 million from the Department of War’s Office of Strategic Capital.

The financing would expand U.S.-based production of drone and autonomous system components at its Huntsville, Alabama facility.

Planned output includes propulsion systems, power electronics, flight-control hardware, vision systems, and related technologies.

The deal is still under review and has not closed, but it is meant to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers and strengthen the domestic defense industrial base.
