The Mac Pro is dead at Apple, and I’ll miss the cheese-grater powerhouse

Apple has officially discontinued the Mac Pro and removed it from Apple’s website.

Apple confirmed to 9to5Mac that there are no plans for a future Mac Pro, and the buy page now redirects to Apple’s Mac homepage.

The Mac Pro was introduced in 2013 with a cylindrical redesign and had thermal management issues and limited expansion.

A 2019 redesign returned the Mac Pro to a tower format with eight PCIe card slots.

Apple released the Mac Studio before discontinuing the Mac Pro, considers Mac Studio its pro desktop of the future, says there is no point in keeping the Mac Pro alive, and the Pro Display XDR was discontinued alongside the Mac Pro.
