Cutting-edge uncrewed underwater vessels with advanced weapons to boost warfighting readiness

AUKUS defense ministers announced a joint push to develop advanced sensors and weapons for uncrewed underwater vessels.

The effort is meant to boost the Royal Navy, support the future SSN-AUKUS fleet, and broaden allied undersea deterrence.

Officials said the first capabilities could be fielded by 2027 under AUKUS Pillar 2.

Ministers also reported progress on rotational U.S. and U.K. submarine deployments at HMAS Stirling in Australia.
