Microsoft released MAI voice and image models for Build 2026

Microsoft unveiled seven new MAI models at Build 2026, spanning voice, image, transcription, coding, and reasoning.

The lineup includes MAI Voice 2, MAI Image 2.5 and 2.5 Flash, MAI Transcribe 1.5, MAI Code 1 Flash, and MAI Thinking 1.

Microsoft says the models will power its own AI services and products, including Copilot, Teams, Azure, and GitHub Copilot.

The move deepens Microsoft’s in-house AI stack and reduces reliance on OpenAI.
