Google Photos adds setting to disable shimmer, AI camera shortcut

Google Photos for Android is rolling out a new toggle to turn off the shimmer effect on actionable photo suggestions.

Some parts of the app’s Settings screen are also being updated with Material 3 Expressive styling.

In AI creation tools, a new camera floating action button lets users capture a fresh image instead of picking from the library.

The changes give users more control over visual effects and make AI creation faster and more direct.
