Age-Related 'Unraveling' of DNA May Be Reversible, Study Suggests

Researchers found that boosting SIRT6 in aging male mice helped preserve youthful DNA organization in the liver.

Their liver chromatin stayed more tightly organized and showed gene-regulation patterns closer to those of younger tissue.

The results suggest some age-related DNA and chromatin disorganization may be reversible, at least in mice.

If confirmed more broadly, the finding could point to new ways to slow or partly reverse tissue aging.
