Scientists Discover Terrifying Giant Crocodile That Hunted Human Ancestors

Researchers identified a new giant crocodile species, Crocodylus lucivenator, from Hadar, Ethiopia.

It lived about 3.4 to 3 million years ago alongside Lucy’s species, Australopithecus afarensis.

The crocodile may have reached 15 feet long and likely sat at the top of its wetland food chain.

Fossils show unique snout features and signs of fighting between individuals.
