AI Can Spot Pancreatic Cancer Years Before Diagnosis, Study Finds

Researchers reported that REDMOD, a radiomics-based AI model, can spot signs of pancreatic cancer on CT scans long before diagnosis.

In the study, the system identified most future cancer cases about 16 months early, and some more than two years before diagnosis.

REDMOD outperformed human review in the test set, suggesting it may help flag subtle pre-diagnostic changes missed on routine scans.

The findings could support earlier intervention for pancreatic cancer, a disease that is often diagnosed too late to treat effectively.
