Microsoft says it will reduce Windows 11’s memory footprint and improve core setup and responsiveness on PCs with just 8GB of RAM.

The move targets long-running complaints about sluggish UI and bloated background processes.

Some on-device AI features may be scaled back if they require too much memory, potentially lowering the priority of Copilot-like experiences.

If it works, the change could make budget laptops feel faster as RAM prices rise and hardware demands increase.
